Led by a great performance by Michael Teran, the Jurupa Hills cross country team took second place in the CIF Southern Section championships at Mt. San Antonio College last Saturday.

By trailing only first-place Brea Olinda, the Spartans achieved the best CIF finish of any cross country team in the history of the city of Fontana.  The locals will now be heading to the State Meet.

The team's overall time was 77:02, which was 32 seconds behind Brea Olinda (76:30), and was the second fastest time ever recorded by a San Bernardino County school on the Mt. SAC course.  The gap between the Spartans' 1-5 runners was 49 seconds.

Palos Verdes was third with 103 points and Rubidoux, another team from the Mountain Valley League, took sixth.
