Payton Godsey, a junior at Oaks Christian High in California, repeated as CIF Southern Section Division 4 girls cross country champion at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. Godsey covered the 2.93-mile layout in 16:54.2 for the fastest female performance of the meet, becoming the first back-to-back Division 4 champion since Claudia Lane of Malibu in 2016-17. Godsey helped Oaks Christian place second behind JSerra by a 56-101 margin, with both teams advancing to the Nov. 26 state final at Woodward Park in Fresno.
