Denise Chen, a senior at Claremont High in California, finished fifth in the Division 2 girls final at the CIF Southern Section Championships by covering the adjusted 3-mile rain course layout in 16:47.7 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut. Chen helped Claremont secure second place as a team by a 61-94 margin behind champion Ventura High.
